China Basin Camp

Went mountain biking at China Basin Camp in San Rafael on Saturday... it was so much fun! We rode about 18 miles around the Peacock Loop. It look us about 3 hours. We stopped at the beach, checked out the view and took a few short breaks. Can't wait to do it again!

Grandma's 96th Birthday Party Favors

I can’t believe my grandmother is almost a century years old. She has lived a long life and still as strong and healthy as ever! We are celebrating my grandmother’s 96th birthday this Saturday, August 21st. Happy birthday, Nanay!

I made an invitation and party favors to give out to guests. It was a fun project and thought I would share it. This is her invitation. I printed it on a 4x6 photo paper... it printed out nicely!

I few weeks ago, I bought a soap kit that I got from Michael’s. I wanted to make my own soap because I’m tired of buying soap and because I’m curious about making soap. So I thought it would be a great idea to make soap and put them in a flower mold and make them as party favors for my grandma. My grandma loves flowers so it was easy to come up with that idea. And also, I didn’t want a huge soap bar I just wanted something cute and small. I found this mold in the cake decorating section at Michael’s Arts and Crafts. It’s the perfect size. I only bought one tray so it took me a few days to do about 48 of them. I don’t think I need that much, but I didn’t want to be short. I’d rather have more than not enough.

It was easy to put together, but it took time. After I finished making the soap, I cut up some scrapbook colored stock paper into circles with one of those paper shaper scissors. Then I put a little label in the back with a note that says “thank you for coming”. I used a mailing label template and printed it on a clear mailing label sticker so it’s transparent. I put that in a plastic bag that I also bought at Michael’s with the soap and tied it with a pink ribbon. It came out perfect!

It took me a few days to complete, I had to cut all 48 circles and cut each label to fit on the back. And now that I think about it, I could of used a paper cutter and trimmed them to the size I need instead! (note to self!) Then I cut 48 pink ribbons, about 7” long and tied them around the plastic bags. Tying the plastic bags took the longest! But it was worth it because it came out just the way I wanted it to.

Hope this gave some of you inspiration and an idea for your next party! I think this favor would be great for weddings as well as baby showers too!

Rock Make Street Festival and Blog Giveaway

I'm so excited to announce that Bunnycone Designs will be at the 3rd Annual Rock Make Street Festival in San Francisco. It will be held in Mission District, Sunday, Aug. 22, from 11am to 6pm. The festival will be TWICE the size of last year, with three stages featuring all local and kids' rock bands with over 100 arts and crafts vendors. Come by and visit my booth and I will give you a discount on one of my beautiful jewelry!

To promote my shop this week, I will be giving away a FREE pair of earrings. This is my tulip earring, it's made of sterling silver wires, hand shaped, cut and soldered. Then I added an aqua green chalcedony faceted gemstone.

To participate, I will be conducting a raffle. This is how it's going to work, it's pretty simple. Follow my blog and comment on this post. Then at the end of next week, I will put all the names that made comments on this link in a box or a hat or whatever I may have that day and pull out one name. Then I will post the name of the winner next Sunday evening! It's that simple.

Here's the photo of the earrings.

Good luck everyone and may the best person win!

Muir Woods

I haven't been to Muir Woods in years and I only live about a 30 minute drive away. Believe it or not, that was only the second time in my life that I have been there. I need to appreciate my city and venture out a little more. If only I could have hiked a little further..... oh well. My poor boyfriend has knee problems and I can't make him walk for too long. The only reason I got him out there is the Muir Woods Cafe. We were watching "The Best Food I Ever Ate" on the food network and someone mentioned that this cafe had the BEST grilled cheese sandwich he ever had. So we went out there and checked it out. The grilled cheese wasn't the best I ever had, but OMG... tomato soup was awesome! Kept us warm too. You would know if you've been to Muir Woods, it's always foggy and wet. Keep that in mind when you go. And remember to stop by the cafe before your hike,  the soup will help warm your soul.
